Carrollton, GA is a city in the northwest Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 24,388. The city is the county seat of Carroll County.

Carrollton was founded in 1826 as the county seat of Carroll County. It was named for Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland, the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence. The city’s historic downtown is centered on the Carrollton Square, which is surrounded by commercial and government buildings. The Carrollton Courthouse, built in 1829, is the oldest surviving courthouse in Georgia.

The city is home to the University of West Georgia, which was founded in 1906 as the Fourth District Agricultural and Mechanical School. The school’s football team, the West Georgia Wolves, won the Division II national championship in 2011.

Carrollton is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, about 50 miles (80 km) west of Atlanta. It is situated along Interstate 20, which provides access to the city. Carrollton has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters.
