More About Newnan Real Estate
Newnan is a city in Coweta County, Georgia, approximately 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. As of 2019, the city has a population of 36,182. The city is the county seat of Coweta County.
Newnan was established in 1828 as the county seat of Coweta County. The city was named for Daniel Newnan, a colonel in the American Revolutionary War. Newnan was a prosperous city during the antebellum period, and its population grew rapidly. The city was home to a number of businesses, including a cotton mill, a gristmill, and a foundry.
The city was occupied by Union troops during the American Civil War, and many of its buildings were damaged. After the war, Newnan’s economy declined, and the city became a sleepy Southern town. In the early 21st century, however, the city experienced a resurgence, and its downtown area has been revitalized. Newnan is now a thriving city, with a vibrant downtown and a growing population.
